Harvey Weinstein is a famous American film producer, who is also known as the founder of Miramax Films.
He earned an Academy Award for his film Shakespeare in Love and also collected seven Tony Awards for producing award winning plays and musicals such as The Producers, Billy Elliot the Musical and August: Osage County.
Weinstein was born in Flushing, New York on March 19, 1952, and raised with his younger brother, Bob, in a Jewish family in New York City.
They live in a housing cooperative called Electchester. After graduating from John Bowne High School, Weinstein continued his studies at the State University of New York, Buffalo.
As a teenager, together with his older brother who had a rock band, they performed small concerts.
They save the money obtained from these activities as an investment to produce films, in accordance with their dream of being involved in film making.
